We believe true worship is the sincere adoration of God in response to His revelation of Himself to us. Although various practices can be considered acts of worship, certainly the most frequent form of worship mentioned in the Bible is singing. Accordingly, we emphasize congregational involvement in singing to our Lord during our Bible studies and services.
We select music that includes PSALMS - the singing of Scriptures, HYMNS - skilful poetry, rich in Bible truth put to traditional music, and SPIRITUAL SONGS - contemporary songs which express our hearts to God. Preference is given to simple, meaningful lyrics and sing-able melodies so that people who worship with us regularly can more easily hide these songs in their hearts and worship freely and deeply without visual aids.
Our worship leaders are sound Christians chosen for their heart for the Lord and their desire to serve His people, not simply for a particular ability or their desire to express themselves through music. Their goal is to help their brothers and sisters express praise and thanksgiving to God, rather than to perform for them or entertain them.
The result we hope and pray for is the entire congregation praising God spiritually, intelligently, and orderly, yet with deep joy and enthusiasm, heartily uniting our voices to bring our Savior and King a great sacrifice of praise. |
